This Book Study is an in-depth course looking at Getting Started, a book about the work of creating professional learning communities and additional resources that will guide our study of the rudiments of successful professional learning communities. We will be reading the book and answering thought provoking questions for each chapter. Part of the strength of this course will be the sharing of thoughts and ideas with others in the course.
There will be four modules, and each module will have questions as well as one project associated with the reading. After you have posted your thoughts on the questions provided, you will be asked to respond to two additional postings by your classmates. The projects will be varied, from researching area schools that are incorporating PLC ideas to creating a mission statement and vision for your school or district. There will also be an ongoing discussion as we proceed through the book. Module One will run from May 1 – May 20. Your questions need to be answered by May 15, the project and two responses need to be posted by May 20. Module Two will run from May 21 – June 10. Your questions need to be answered by June 5, the project and two responses need to be posted by June 10. Module Three will run from June 11 – June 30. Your questions need to be posted by June 25, the project and two responses need to be posted by June 30. Module Four will run from July 1 – July 31. Your questions need to be posted by July 25, the two responses and the project need to be posted by July 31.
After everything has been posted accordingly, and WRESA has received payment for the course, a certificate for 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) will be sent to you.
